About Fellowship

The REACH Fellowship, spearheaded by the Centre for Achieving Sustainable Climate Action, Development, and Engagement (CASCADE) at Somaiya Institute for Research and Consultancy (SIRAC), is a distinctive initiative that brings together the brightest minds of the Somaiya Ecosystem with rural communities.

Annually, four REACH fellows will be selected; he/she/they will work on a specific problem within a specific geographical location. 

Who can Apply?

  • Postgraduates of any discipline.
  • Alumnus of Somaiya ecosystem
  • Applicants should be no older than 28 years at the time of application.

The fellowship we offer?

  • Each fellow will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 20,000.
  • Regional campuses of the Somaiya group of institutes will cover expenses for food, stay, and local transportation.

Tenure of the fellowship?

  • The fellowship will be for 12 months.
  • This is a full-time, on-location fellowship.

Our distinction lies in the careful selection of sustainability-focused thematic areas, strategically chosen to maximize community impact. Annually, the REACH core committee thoughtfully selects compelling themes, engaging fellows in meaningful projects that go beyond traditional outreach. Advocating a co-designing principle, we seamlessly connect academic knowledge and research innovation with the authentic experiences of rural communities. The fellowship's 'Research Synthesis' approach extracts profound insights, fostering impactful change and empowering local communities towards sustainable development.

We seek active, dynamic, self-motivated postgraduates with a community-oriented mindset and a passion for research, especially Somaiya ecosystem alumni. We invite you to dedicate 12 transformative months to empower rural communities, creating a lasting impact and shaping a brighter future for all.
