An interfaculty, intercampus working group within the Somaiya ecosystem will lead the 'Dialogue,' with CASCADE anchoring team building and periodic exchanges to drive inclusive, sustainable, and innovative solutions to real-world challenges.
Flagship event of the Centre for Achieving Sustainable Climate Action, Development and Engagement (CASCADE)
Sustainability Dialogue is a flagship initiative of CASCADE that brings together students, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, industry leaders, community representatives, and knowledge holders to engage in meaningful conversations on sustainability challenges and solutions. Through thematic dialogues, lectures, workshops, citizen science projects, participatory learning experiences, youth engagement programmes, showcases, field immersions, and collaborative knowledge-sharing platforms, the initiative promotes interdisciplinary thinking, capacity building, and the co-creation of solutions rooted in Indian knowledge systems and supported by science, technology, and innovation. It serves as a catalyst for connecting research, education, policy, and practice while fostering informed action, environmental stewardship, and collective responsibility towards sustainable and resilient futures.
Theme: 2025–2026
Sustainability Dialogue follows a unique two-year thematic model, where a selected sustainability theme is explored over two consecutive years through complementary focus areas. The first year serves as a foundation-building phase, introducing key concepts, stakeholders, challenges, and opportunities associated with the theme. The second year deepens engagement by expanding participation, showcasing innovations and best practices, strengthening partnerships, and translating dialogue into action, collaboration, and knowledge creation.
Dialogue also adopts a dual-format approach. At its core is the annual flagship dialogue, a two- to three-day convening held every January that brings together diverse stakeholders from academia, government, industry, civil society, and communities. Complementing this flagship event is a series of periodic dialogues and year-round engagement activities that sustain momentum, deepen exploration of the chosen theme, and create opportunities for learning, collaboration, citizen science, youth engagement, field immersion, and public participation throughout the year.
Create opportunities for dialogue and learning that deepen understanding of complex sustainability challenges and opportunities.
Bring together diverse stakeholders to share experiences, bridge knowledge systems, and co-create solutions for sustainable development.
Empower individuals and communities with the knowledge, skills, networks, and motivation needed to contribute towards sustainable and resilient futures.
